Experimental and numerical study on the influence of flow passages in centrifugal fan using computational fluid dynamics

Abstract In this work, three actual impeller geometries of identical size, with backward, radial, and forward flow passages in the same volute casing, are experimentally analysed numerically simulated to understand physics characteristics performance mapping under different flowrate conditions. A grid independence test is carried out for whole computational domain capture complex behaviour inside blades. The three-dimensional numerical analysis performed steady conditions, a rotational domain, moving reference frame approach (frozen rotor method) used. results obtained from experimental cases curved centrifugal fans varying mass flowrates shows that static pressure total increased an increase rotation speed gradient higher blades than backward radial bladed fans. blade’s low high-pressure regions along suction sides visualised by analysis. degree recirculation within blade passages, reversal vortex formation tongue observed be all types which clearly describes its influence on
